CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
MYSHIELD MOBILE APPLICATION
1. Information About You (Information You Type In)
After download, the MyShield App requests information from you related to your MyShield account. This information includes your MyShield username and password. You may be required to use your email address as a login to access the MyShield App. You can use the MyShield App to access your home security systems. If you choose to access your systems, the MySheild App will, among other things, display a live video surveillance feed from your home cameras. The MyShield App does not collect your location data.
2. Automatic Access And Data Collection From Your Device
The MyShield App may access certain device information and/or components automatically. This access is only for the purpose of providing the services within the MyShield App you choose to use. The App will activate your camera if you choose to take a picture from your surveillance video, and store the photo.
A push notification token will be used to send push notifications to your mobile device to notify you of items, such as an active alarm, that may be of interest to you. We will ask you if you want to receive push notifications prior to sending the first notification, and, if you want to enable or disable push notifications, you can do so by accessing Account Settings and selecting Notifications.
3. How We Use Information About You And Your Device
Slomin’s has engaged third party data analytic providers to act on Slomin’s behalf to track and analyze your usage of our MyShield App. These third parties collect, and share with us, as we may request, usage information about your use of the MyShield App, including frequency of use and the services used. The information collected on Slomin’s behalf by these third parties does not contain your name, address, email address, or any other personally identifiable information.
You may refrain from using MyShield App features that collect specific types of data. You may further opt-out of all information collection by uninstalling the MyShield App. You may use the standard uninstall application and data management processes available as part of your mobile device or via the removal features provided in your chosen mobile app store or network. Once you have uninstalled the MyShield App, all information stored on the MyShield App is deleted, including any preferences you previously set and whether you have allowed the App to send you push notifications. Once the App is uninstalled and preferences are deleted, the push notifications will stop.
5. Data Retention
The MyShield App will store user-provided data unless you choose to uninstall the App.
1. Information Collection and Use
Slomin’s collects and stores personally identifiable information about you that you provide on our Websites. This information includes personal information such as name, address, phone number, email address, mailing address, phone number, and last four digits of your social security number. We may also collect your personal preferences, such as usernames, passwords, and zone descriptions. In providing us with this information, you allow us to personalize your services. We may use your email address to communicate with you regarding your services or to inform you about offers or services. If you wish to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, follow the detailed unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each email.
If you choose to place an order with Slomin’s or pay your bill on our Websites, you will be required to provide payment information, such as your credit card or debit card number along with other identifying information. We use this information to process the transaction and will retain your financial information for your convenience only if you instruct us to do so.
In addition, Slomin’s automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser, including your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, your internet service provider, browser type, operating system, pages accessed on our sites and the date and time of access. We also receive information telling us what site you came to our site from.
When you send us information or questions using the Contact Us page, we will retain the content of your message, your email address, and our response in order to handle any follow-up questions you may have or to recommend products and services. We also use this information to measure how effectively we address your concerns.
Slomin’s limits access to personal information about you to Slomin’s employees and agents who Slomin’s believes reasonably need that information to provide products or services to you or to do their jobs. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.
2. How To Update Your Personal Information
We ask that you keep your information as up-to-date as possible so you may get the maximum benefit from our Websites. Go to the https://www.slomins.com/account_management/AccountPreferences.aspx or https://myshield.slomins.com/MyShield/Admin.aspx to make any changes.
4. Data Retention
Slomin’s will store your personal registration information and information related to your purchases and related activities in our operational systems as needed to provide your requested services and to maintain our records. We store your financial information, such as your credit or debit card, only if you instruct us to do so.
INFORMATION SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
Slomin’s discloses your personally identifiable information with government agencies and the third parties with which they contract in maintaining their alarm user, permit, and registration databases. Slomin’s may provide your personal information to affiliated companies or other trusted businesses or persons who work on behalf of or with Slomin’s. These companies may use your personal information to help Slomin’s administer its business or communicate with you about offers or other information relevant to Slomin’s services.
Slomin’s may provide information about you in response to subpoenas, law enforcement requests, court orders or legal process, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims. Slomin’s also may provide information about you if we believe it is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, or as otherwise required by law.
If Slomin’s becomes involved in a merger, acquisition, or any form of sale of some or all of its assets, it may share your personal information with the potential acquirer or buyer pursuant to a confidentiality agreement.
Slomin’s will not use or share the personal information provided to us through its Websites and MyShield App in ways unrelated to those described above without providing you with notice.
You may have the opportunity to follow a link to other web sites that may be of interest to you from our Websites or from the MyShield App. Slomin’s endeavors to only link to reputable organizations related to your areas of interest, but these websites may not be hosted or controlled by Slomin’s and Slomin’s is not responsible for the privacy practices of those web sites or the content provided thereon.
COMPLIANCE WITH CHILDREN’S ONLINE PRIVACY PROTECTION ACT (COPPA)
No information should be submitted to or via our Websites or the MyShield App by users under the age of 13. Slomin’s Websites and the MyShield App are not intended to, nor do we knowingly, collect any personal information from anyone under 13. If a child under 13 provides us with personal information without parental or guardian consent, the parent or guardian may contact us at the contact information listed below, and we will remove the information.
CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS
California law permits residents of California to request certain details about the types of personal information a company shares with third parties for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes. Slomin’s does not share your information with third parties for the third parties’ own and independent direct marketing purposes unless we receive your permission.
Slomin’s has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of your information. We protect your information through a unique username and password, and we protect certain sensitive communications on our Websites and MyShield App through server authentication and secure connections. Although we take steps to protect your personal information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to or receive from us or that we store on our or our service provider’s systems. In addition, you are ultimately responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your user name, passwords and/or any account information. If you have reason to believe that your interaction with the Websites or the MyShield App is no longer secure, such as if your username or password has been compromised, you should immediately notify us of the problem by contacting us in accordance with the section entitled “Contact Us,” below.
VIEWING, UPDATING, AND DELETING INFORMATION
You may view, update, or delete your username and password at any time through our Websites at https://www.slomins.com/account_management/AccountPreferences.aspx or https://myshield.slomins.com/MyShield/Admin.aspx. These changes will be immediately made to our records.
